A Decade Inside the Bottleneck

AIIPO's founder spent years working as a patent researcher and IP portfolio manager inside the IP department of FEV Europe GmbH in Aachen, Germany, one of the world's leading independent engineering service providers. The role meant manually navigating global patent databases, EPO, USPTO, JPO, and WIPO among them, to evaluate invention disclosures, assess infringement risk, and determine patentability for complex engineering innovations. One case at a time, hundreds of hours a year, spent reading.

Where the Time Actually Went

Every disclosure required working through dozens of documents. Every risk assessment meant cross-referencing claims and prior art across multiple, unconnected systems. The process was methodical and thorough. It was also brutally slow. Cases that should have taken days routinely stretched into weeks, and cost accumulated at every stage along the way, research hours, attorney review time, drawing preparation, and a chain of sequential approvals passed between engineers, the internal IP team, and external patent attorneys. None of this was any one person's fault. It was what a six-stage, specialist-gated process does to elapsed time, regardless of how capable the specialists running it are.

The Language Barrier No One Talks About

A less visible problem sat underneath the slow one. A significant share of global patent filings publish in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, and reviewing them properly meant translation work, external resources, or accepting a gap in coverage. Entire technology landscapes filed by competitors across Asia, a region that now accounts for roughly seventy percent of global IP filings, ended up assessed only superficially, or missed outright. Not from negligence. The manual process simply could not scale to the full scope of what needed reviewing, and no amount of individual diligence could close that gap alone.

From Frustration to Conviction

Stepping away from the IP department did not make the problem go away. If anything, it became harder to ignore. The same structural pain points, sequential handoffs, translation gaps, costs compounding at every stage, kept showing up across different organizations and industries. That repetition was the confirmation needed. This was not a quirk of one department or one company. It was systemic, and no amount of incremental tooling, a faster search interface here, a better docketing system there, was ever going to fix a problem built into the structure of the process itself. What started as frustration became a conviction that the process needed to be rebuilt, not patched.

Founding AIIPO

That conviction became a company in 2023. AIIPO was founded under EneIT Solutions LLC in Dallas, Texas, bringing together a team of technology leaders with backgrounds in cybersecurity, AI engineering, and enterprise IT to build something traditional IP tools never were: a platform designed from the ground up around how IP work actually needs to happen, rather than around how it happened to get built the first time.
